Peter Bjorn and John – new album details released. Yay!

The band’s fifth studio record will be released on March 27th next year through Wichita Recordings / Cooperative Music and is entitled Living thing.

The eagerly awaited album was recorded over the past year in Stockholm, New York and Los Angeles. The band produced the record together with Lars Mårtén, who also had the control of the mixing dials.

Keep your ears to the ground for a new  track called “Lay It Down” which will surface sometime before Christmas on a dancefloor, via a blog or on a legal music site near you!

After the seemingly never ending success of the anthemic single “Young Folks” the band’s 2006 album, “Writer’s Block”, became one of the indie hits of the year.

“Young Folks” was named track of the year by iTunes and cover versions were performed in by acts as diverse as bluegrass artist Dawn Landes, James Blunt, the German 80’s icon Nena, The Kooks and even one of hip hop’s leading lights – Kanye West!

Since the release of “Writer’s Block”, as well as extensive touring, the band recorded an instrumental album (“Seaside Rock” – WEBB178LP); Peter Morén released his first solo album (“The Last Tycoon” – WEBB168CD); John Eriksson worked on releases of his own solo project (Hortlax Cobra); whilst, Björn Yttling worked as a producer for Lykke Li, Sahara Hotnights and Primal Scream amongst others.

Bjorn is also nominated for the Producer of the Year for the second year in a row at the Swedish Grammy Awards.
